You must understand that there is nothing mystical about the writing process. It's not magic. A good writer is just a person with a knack for drawing elements from personal experiences, movies watched, books read, video games played, etc. and then having enough patience to sit down and use them to create a story that he hopes will resonate with his audience and will help them make a little more sense of their lives. That's hardly alchemy. But that's not saying it's an easy task. Or that it isn't a big deal. Imagination is a big deal. Creativity is a big deal. The ability to drill deep into human consciousness and sentience is a big deal. The talent for stringing words and situations together so that they have an emotional effect on the audience is a big deal. These things require the power to find what I can only describe as inner silence. And the willingness to bear the loneliness of the process.

‎"A man can be as great as he wants to be. If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the dedication, the competitive drive and if you are willing to sacrifice the little things in life and pay the price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done."

thoughts

Nakakatawa ang ibang tao, nageexpect na itrato mo sila ng tama eh sila ang unang nambastos sa iyo. In my book, people who treated me unkindly in the past do not deserve the right to be called my friend. Oo, kahit nakasmile ako sa iyo, o nakipagkwentuhan ako sa iyo, hindi ibig sabihin nuon hindi kita kinamumuhian. Naperfect ko na yata ang ganyan. Nauna kong na-channel yan kaysa kay Victoria Grayson with her famous line kay Lydia - "everytime I hug you, the warmth you will feel will be my hatred burning inside you"

Kilala ko ang hilatsa ng mga taong nakakasalamuha ko, at hindi ako nagpapastress. May mga times lang na hindi ko kinakaya ang mga makabuluhang hirit ng mga genius na katulad ng isang taong ito. Sumabog ako and as they say Taureans have the worst tempers in the Zodiac, pasalamat ka hindi kita nginudngod.

But past is past - sa iba. But for me, past won't be forgotten. Tingin mo yata hindi ako marunong makisama. Ang totoo ayokong makisama sa iyo, pero sa iba gusto ko. The nerve.

To end, this is just a vent, it could be about you, or anyone. Basta ang pinakapoint ko lang, kung ganito ako, hindi pwedeng walang pinanghuhugutan. I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine nga di ba. Ikaw ang nauna. If you despise me, I despise you even more. If you play cold, I'll play colder and meaner. But you won't know because I'll be flashing my sincerest smile at you.

Wishes

My wishes for you in 2012

Posted on December 31, 2011 by Scott
It’s the waning hours of a year notable for many developments on the screenwriting front. While movie ticket sales in the U.S. and Canada dropped to their lowest level since 1996, major studios, mini-majors and producers acquired spec scripts at a rate nearly double the previous year.

What does that mean for 2012? It could be a banner year for writers who have talent, understand the movie business, and know how to craft a great story.

This humble blog exists for many reasons and a primary one is to try to elevate the quality of the scripts that funnel into Hollywood and other filmmaking centers worldwide. We deserve better movies. And that starts with a screenplay.

In that spirit, here are some wishes I have for each of you in 2012.

May you be creative.
May you develop a relationship with your Creativity that enables it to grow.
May you channel your Creativity into an empowering writing process.

May you feed your imagination by reading great books and screenplays.
May you find inspiration by watching and analyzing movies.
May those ideas and images make your writing that much better.

May you claim your right to be a writer.
May you find the persistence to exercise that right every day.
May your daily diligence translate into plenty of FADE OUTs.

May you fall in love with words.
May you use strong verbs and vivid descriptors.
May your pages come alive in the minds of readers.

May you generate a bounty of story concepts.
May you push yourself to work on only the very best ones.
May at least one of them be the basis for a truly commercial script.

May you get to know your characters in the deepest possible ways.
May they speak to you through their words and actions.
May you have the courage to follow their lead when writing each and every scene.

May you learn to live with the voices of negativity in your mind.
May you grasp the fact that all writers deal with doubts.
May you understand the only power those doubts have is that which we give them.

May you write.
May you rewrite.
May you finish.

May you find your passion.
May you follow that passion into stories flowing from your soul.
May those stories come into being as great scripts.

There are so many things about what we do we can not control.
We can not control agents and managers.
We can not control producers.
We can not control studio executives.
We can not control directors.
We can not control business trends.
We can not control a fundamental need for every writer… plain dumb luck.

But we can control this…
Our writing.
The stories we choose to tell…
And the quality of the effort we bring to the process as we write them.

So finally this…

May you always keep your focus on the Writing.
May you develop a vibrant, organic and real relationship to Story.
And together, may your Creativity and Story translate into stories worth writing.

Thanks for making GITS a part of your life.
All the best to each of you and all your creative endeavors in 2012!

2012 is for LEVELLING UP!

Yes, we have some resolutions we keep on listing every year, but half the time, they just end up a cold statistic -resolutions not!
I am getting pretty tired of stupid resolutions listing myself, because some just end up being listed year after year without fruition.
Though I admit, my 2011 was a good one. And some of my to do lists were achieved. To further check all my to do lists and resolutions, I get specific. Being particular makes the item a bit more doable.

1. cut down smoking - yah, cut down smoking how? I promise to myself that I will be smoking a Marlboro Lights 10's pack for 2 days. So that means I get 5 sticks a day. Better than my 10 sticks a day habit.

2. exercise - I tried gym before but sicne I am lethargic I get lazy getting to the freaking gym. Now I decide to buy a treadmill or strider! and use it!

3. eat more fruits, veggies and fish - Ok I always say that I will diet, diet how? For an entire lifetime of trying out diets, I gather that generally veggies and fish are good. So I try to eat these more and replace the meats and pastries with these.

4. excel on my presentation skills -how? I will practice. I will prepare. I will create my own speech syntax. Premise: State situation, Why? Emotion Decision.

5. stop tardiness! it's not cool to be late anymore. From now on I will arrive 30 minutes early.

6. win a writing award - how? by joining contests.

7. get promoted - how? by being excellent.

8. buy a car (second hand will do) - A Honda will do. City or Civic. A silver.

9. have a BF - level up! instead I will make it a point to travel with a significant other this 2012, and kiss by the sea during sunset. (OK, how particular can I get, exactly.

10. lose weight - lose weight how much, time bomb, at stake? last year there were none of those. So this year, I get exact - I am going to lose 30 pounds before my birthday on April 25 - and throw a party!

So in hindsight:

2010 was a year of BECOMING.A year full of promise.

2011 was a year of ARRIVING. A year of milestones, a year of achieving goals.

2012 will be a year of LEVELLING UP. A year of excelling, a year of being the best in everything and having the best of everything.

What are your Level Up Check lists for 2012?

Thank you prayer

Lord, thank you for all the blessings of 2011.

Thank you for the people I work with in my unit - Manay Gina, Mamu, Sir Rayms. The creative team - Janice, Ate Kune, Bianchi, Kuya Manny etc. They are the best team ever. Thank you for the patience, kindness, guidance and friendship.

Thank you for the new people who are now part of my life, all of them I met in 2011. To my DEO UNIT family/friends - Dang, Monj, Angel, Direk Lino, Ms. Regee, Sir Rondel, Ms JulieAnn.

Thank you for the chance to work outside of my RGD unit. Happy that I am now a part of DTE group and ABS-CBN RNG.

Thank you for the opportunity to write for Nasaan Ka Elisa. This is the first time that I wrote for an entire week script without a writing partner. With this show, I appreciated the CREDIT. Credit is sweet when you know you worked hard for it. I also learned to be more meticulous with my output, dig deeper, and write for suspense.

Thank you Lord for letting me explore. For the travels this 2011, all of which I paid for from my own account, and enjoyed - Cebu, Bohol, Dumaguete, Siquijor, Boracay, Cebu again, Bicol, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.

Thank you Lord for keeping me safe in all these travels. I am not so much of an adventure-junkie but some of these trips I took alone were in slightly perilous circumstances.

- boarding the ferry boat to Siquijor in the choppiest waters ever! Alone!

- riding the habal habal in steep ascent to Mt Kanlaon in San Juan, Negros Oriental. Alone! and in the dark (during the descent)

- stranded in Legazpi Airport during typhoon Pedring with entire Bicol region flooded!

- trekking steep inclined in Angkor Temples.

Thank you for letting me indulge with my need to set on a new place. And I promise that these travels will always be special to me, etched in my memory, and forever a part of me.

Consequently, thank you Lord for the people I met along the way during my travels most especially my travelmates in Cambodia Shey and Gladys.

Thank you for the good health Lord and the gift of life, not just to me but also to my family.

Thank you for the opportunity to create, thank for you for my career. Not everybody can claim that they're doing what they love for a job, and for this alone, I am proud and grateful. I LOVE MY JOB. I LOVE THE CRAFT. Happy that my gambles, my hardwork and talent paid off and now, I am thankful to you Lord for showering me with blessings upon blessings, with money, security and passion. I want continue creating more TV shows and stories for the public.

Thank you for my family, my friends for being with me, sticking with me and for some people, for being loyal to me and my endeavors. I appreciate people who support what I do. To friends congratulating me, appreciating what I do, thank you. I thank the Lord for you.

Thank you Lord, for the independence - for blessing me with the chance to LIVE ON MY OWN. And to build something for myself.

Thank you Lord, for the investment opportunity.

Thank you Lord, for everything, I am sure there are some things I wasn't able to mention I thank for those as well.

Thank you for everything Lord, and in 2012, I hope to continue to be blessed. 2011 was a good year and I am eternally thankful. I hope to achieve what my heart desires. Alam niyo na yun Lord. I have two tangibles and three non-tangible desires...I hope to achieve them all this 2012.

AMEN
